Berman Hügel Garden Sculpture

In collaboration with Steven Donegan, I designed and installed “The Instrument” using the hugel form.  Hugels are  raised planting beds beginning with layers of decaying wood and compostable materials  and soil.  The  decaying materials create heat which provides an environment  for plants to extend their growing season into the colder months.   We  elaborated on the form to represent a musical instrument in recognition of the Arts at Ursinus College and the Berman Museum.  The project would be maintained by students and faculty, becoming a component of diverse academic curricular activities.
